Permission Guidelines
For Publicity Use:
To obtain permission to use, excerpt or duplicate copyrighted materials for purposes related to publicity (i.e., review, feature, or other editorial coverage) for any Harry N. Abrams, Inc. title (including Abrams, Stewart, Tabori & Chang, Abrams Books for Young Readers, Amulet Books, or Abrams Image) please review the requirements for sumbmitting a permission request and then contact the permissions department.
For All Other Inquiries:
In general, Harry N. Abrams, Inc. (HNA) owns the text to its recent titles, but in most instances, HNA does not own the rights to the images which appear in our books.
Before contacting us to use an image, please check the caption or acknowledgment section of the book regarding the image you would like to use for the name of the rightsholder, whom you should then contact directly. Museums, galleries, libraries, and other institutions are all easy to find on the internet or in public directories. If the rights holder is an individual photographer, the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP: info@asmp.org) may be able to assist you in contacting the photographer.
If after extensive research you are unable to find the image source noted in one of our books, please review the requirements for sumbmitting a permission request and then contact the permissions department.
Please understand that due to the large volume of requests that we receive, it may be several weeks before a response can be given.
Please send your request in writing to:
